Concrete Polishing Process

Concrete polishing is a an excellent way to make floors attract and robust.

The polishing process requires real skill and knowledge of concrete floors. The success of polished concrete floors begins with successful floor casting. concrete floor polishing can be started no earlier than two weeks after the aftercare period. The polishable concrete floor should be cast and machined as well and carefully as possible while the machined or badly worked steps will come out as the polishing proceeds. We also polish other floors. The polishing of so-called "old concrete floors" should take into account that only a thin layer is sanded off from the concrete surface in the polishing method. Surface defects often appear on the finished surface even if the floor is very glossy. If necessary, first grinding with a coarse diamond, resulting in the largest errors on the undersized surface. Concrete Polishing takes place with diamonds attached to the grinding machine as a wet grinder. Between each sanding block, the floor is washed and dried in a dishwasher. After the first two grinding cycles, lithium silicate is applied to the plastered surface. Lithium silicate reacts with free lime in concrete, making it even tighter and stronger, leaving the surface dirt, fluid repellent and dust-free. After the time of lithium silicate, the sanding is usually continued with two or three different grinding screeds. Finally, a surfactant is applied onto the polished concrete floor, which closes the pores of the concrete surface and makes it even tighter and stronger. The surface is polished after the shelf life on the felt.

In industries polished floor coverings are very essential. Industrial Flooring is mainly done to make the floors last long while keeping them smooth for traffic. A finished polished floor is as easy to keep as clean as a tile or stone floor and requires no special measures. Polished concrete floors often improve with time. If the degree of gloss decreases with heavy wear or abrasion, surface polishing can always be done easily again.
